Key specifications
- Diameters 3.5 mm and 4.5 mm.
- Lengths 20 m and 30 m.
- 3.5 mm for guy lines, 4.5 mm for a ridge line or anything that pulls.
- No breaking strength is specified. Use this cord for guy lines, a ridge line and lashing down luggage — not to suspend yourself, a hammock or anything heavy.
What you use it for
For pitching a tarp, replacing the thin lines that come with a tent, and lashing down luggage. Count on ten to fifteen metres for a tarp with four corners and a ridge line; twenty metres will do, thirty gives you room to cut a piece on the trail without wrecking your set-up.
Pitching and care
Melt the ends with a lighter as soon as you cut — a frayed end never goes through a line tensioner again. Use a prusik or a clove hitch with a half hitch rather than a knot you cannot undo later: wet, loaded cord pulls itself tight. And re-tension after the first hour of rain, because your lines stretch too.
